Graveyard Dirt Cups

Chocolate pudding layered with crushed chocolate-cookie dirt in clear cups, each with a tombstone cookie stuck in at an angle and a gummy worm escaping. The rare dessert that gets better the messier it looks.

Steps

  1. Write RIP and little epitaphs on the butter cookies with the icing. Let set 10 minutes.
  2. Spoon 1/4 cup pudding into each of 8 clear cups. Top with a layer of cookie crumbs.
  3. Repeat with another 1/4 cup pudding and more crumbs so each cup has two layers.
  4. Stick a tombstone cookie in each cup at a jaunty angle, half-bury two gummy worms in the crumbs, and chill at least 30 minutes.
Tip: Crush the cookies in a zip-top bag with a rolling pin — you want rubble, not dust. Clear cups are non-negotiable; the layers are the show.
